The Starting Point of Love: Before John 3:16
John 3:16, powerful as it is, doesn’t represent the starting point of God’s love for us. By the time John wrote his Gospel, Jesus had already been crucified, buried, and resurrected. “God so loved the world” suggests a love that existed from the very beginning, a truth supported by countless scriptures from the opening of Genesis.
If we truly understood this profound love God has for us, would it not fundamentally change our approach to Him? Would it not suggest that we have intimate access to God through prayer, something we can do “all day, every day, without ceasing”?
